Integrate
Stephen Hirt is intrigued by the ability of material to convey meanings.
Hirt creates one of a kind, site-specific pieces for public, private, and liturgical spaces. These pieces are inspired by their surroundings and respond to the challenges of each unique site. The inherited characteristics of a place drive his choice of materials and lead him to choose an appropriate process that together with the material combines to convey a concept within that site.
The diversity of Hirt's design capabilities and his ability to work in a range of mediums affords him a deep creative arsenal. His knowledge of bronze casting, mold making, glass blowing, kiln casting, and metal smithing allow him to richly add to the dialogue between maker and object.
In addition to his own work, Hirt partners with artists, architects, designers, and clients to create truly collaborative pieces.
